8. Joma Chyntia Lattu, S.Kep., M.Epid

Drawing from my diverse academic background and lack of prior exposure to epidemiology, I had to work diligently to master the field. I faced particular challenges when introduced to applications like SPSS, ArcGIS Map, and Epi Info. However, with the guidance of my M.Epid faculty members, who presented new knowledge in an engaging and accessible manner across all courses, I was able to overcome these obstacles. What was particularly memorable was how overwhelmed I felt when writing a journal, to the point of submitting an incomplete draft, which resulted in being reprimanded until I cried. I then revisited the research, studied further, and eventually succeeded in writing a journal that aligned with the scope. Based on my experience as an alumnus, I always emphasize the principle of “Learn first, then ask questions” because M.Epid faculty members are like walking libraries—they have mastered all the reading materials before teaching.
