Semester 2 Master of Epidemiology students at Diponegoro University (Undip) held training activities related to ArcGIS which aimed to identify and monitor the regional distribution of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) cases on December 19, 2023 at the UPTD Health Laboratory (Labskes) of the Demak District Health Office. With the aim of holding this activity to increase their knowledge and skills in understanding and applying the problem of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) through ArcGIS.
ArcGIS in the health system is a software system for mapping the distribution of public health services, distribution of disease cases, distribution of slums, distribution of vector animal settlements so that it can be inputted, processed, and analyzed into health data. Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is a disease caused by antibiotics that are no longer effective against microbes. Demak Regency was chosen because there has been no socialization related to Antimicrobial Resistance and ArcGIS training.
This activity was attended by the Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of Demak Regency, UPTD Health Laboratory, and representatives of each puskesmas spread across Demak Regency by providing socialization related to Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) then continued with ArcGIS training.
Head of the Epidemiology Master Program at Diponegoro University, Dr. drh. Dwi Sutiningsih, M. Kes, appreciated this training activity. “This program is a form of positive contribution of Master of Epidemiology in preventing AMR which is increasingly worrying. We hope that the ArcGIS training can have a positive impact in monitoring the distribution of AMR cases so that AMR cases can be overcome.” she said.
With this training activity, it is hoped that it can provide knowledge and skills using ArcGIS to help obtain data related to AMR cases in Demak Regency. Undip Master of Epidemiology students have also shown their dedication in carrying out this activity in the hope that it can help make it easier to produce useful data related to AMR cases in Demak Regency.
