Master of Epidemiology Undip held a Hearing on the Initiation of the Recognition of Past Learning (RPL) Program with the Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs on Friday, June 24, 2022 which started at 10.00 WIB online via Zoom Meeting. As a result of the hearing, Belmawa approved the Past Learning Recognition (RPL) program for Master of Epidemiology at Diponegoro University (Undip). This decision opens up opportunities for students who have educational backgrounds and experience in the health sector to develop their careers in epidemiology.

RPL is a mechanism that allows individuals to recognize and acknowledge the learning they have done outside the context of formal education. In this case, RPL provides an opportunity for those who already have relevant knowledge and skills in epidemiology to earn a Master of Epidemiology degree in a more flexible way.

With the approval of the RPL program, Undip’s Master of Epidemiology further demonstrates its commitment in providing potential individuals with the opportunity to develop themselves in the field of epidemiology without having to follow the formal curriculum in its entirety.

The RPL process will involve an evaluation of previous work experience, training, and education relevant to the Master of Epidemiology curriculum. Prospective students will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their competence in these areas through portfolios and interviews. Upon passing the evaluation, they will be awarded credits that correspond to their previously acquired knowledge and skills.

The decision of the Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) to approve Undip’s Master of Epidemiology RPL program is an important step in the effort to increase access and educational opportunities for individuals who have work experience in the health sector. In addition, this is also a strategic step to develop qualified human resources in the field of epidemiology, which is urgently needed in facing current public health challenges, including the ongoing global pandemic.

With this approval, it is expected that the number of students enrolling and participating in the Master of Epidemiology program at Undip will increase. This will have a positive impact on improving the quality of experts in the field of epidemiology and ultimately contribute to improving public health in Indonesia.

Undip and the Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) are committed to continue working together to facilitate this RPL program and ensure that prospective students get proper recognition for their knowledge and experience.
This decision is also expected to inspire other universities to develop similar RPL programs, so that more potential individuals can obtain higher education and develop their careers in relevant fields.
